Recreational Boaters who take boating courses at the Chapman School seem to
enjoy boating far more than those who get into boating without
adequate training. For that reason, we are introducing Chapman
Powerboat Certification (CPC), a 6-level program to take the
astute boater all the way from boating essentials to ocean
cruising.
The CPC program provides standardized instruction and
certification for both novice and advanced recreational
boaters. All instruction is presented by Chapman School's experienced,
professional, United States Coast Guard licensed Captains
through a combination of classroom and "Learn at the Helm"
underway sessions. In completing each certification level,
students acquire the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to
safely and confidently operate a vessel in a wide range of
situations.
Each CPC student receives a Chapman School "Passport to Boating Pleasure", a
logbook for recording each certification level achieved. The
Passport also identifies the skills learned at each level and
thus becomes a convenient means of documenting the student's
capability to marine insurers, charter operators and others
whenever proof of competence is needed or required. It might
also give you some bragging rights among your boating friends.
It is the first "credential" of its kind for recreational power
boaters in the United States.
